Sangram Hansra

Lawyer

Born and raised in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Sangram brings deep local roots and global perspective to the practice of law. Sangram earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta, followed by a Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Melbourne Law School.

Before founding Hansra Walker Law, Sangram was a Partner and Board Member at a leading Western Canadian regional law firm. Today, Sangram leads one of Alberta’s largest residential real estate practices, with additional expertise in commercial real estate, corporate law, and wills and estates.

Sangram is proud to be the first lawyer born and raised in Fort McMurray to establish a law firm with an office in Fort McMurray. Sangram’s commitment to community is reflected in previous service roles, including Board of Governors at the University of Alberta, Director of the Wood Buffalo Community Foundation, and Chair of the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce.

Operating from offices in Fort McMurray and Calgary, Sangram is dedicated to delivering practical, client-focused solutions with integrity and efficiency.

Katie Walker

Lawyer

Katie Walker has lived and practiced law in Fort McMurray for more than a decade and is deeply committed to serving the families and community of the region. Her practice is focused primarily on family law, where she is known for her practical advice, strong advocacy, and compassionate approach to guiding clients through complex and emotionally challenging matters.

Before co-founding Hansra Walker Law, Katie built a respected family law practice in Fort McMurray, representing clients in matters involving parenting, child support and spousal support, property division, and child protection. She brings extensive courtroom experience and a steady, solutions-focused perspective to every file.

Katie’s commitment to community service is a cornerstone of her professional life. She currently serves as Board Chair of the Fort McMurray SPCA and has previously served as a Director of the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood Buffalo. She also volunteers with the Community Legal Clinic, supporting access to justice for individuals and families in need.

Through her legal practice and volunteer work, Katie remains dedicated to serving families and individuals in Fort McMurray.

R Yoo

Lawyer

Mr. Yoo is a seasoned disputes lawyer with two decades of legal experience. He first arrived in the city in the late 2000s as a newly called lawyer, joining a leading firm of senior counsel while reconnecting with his extended family, whose commercial roots in the region extend back to the 1970s. His move coincided with the transformative oil sands expansion that placed Fort McMurray on the global stage.

Deeply rooted in the community, Mr. Yoo is dedicated to serving the legal needs of Fort McMurray. He provides practical, results-oriented counsel to individuals, entrepreneurs, and businesses across a wide range of matters, recognizing that legal issues often have profound impacts on personal lives, commercial success, and long-term well-being.

With more than 1,000 court cases in the Fort McMurray Judicial Centre, Mr. Yoo brings extensive trial experience and a profound commitment to the principles of the Anglo-American legal tradition. He holds three university degrees from top-ranked global institutions and is admitted to three bars, including the Alberta Bar and two of the most rigorous U.S. jurisdictions.

He currently practises with Katie Walker and Sangram Hansra, two outstanding next-generation leaders of the Fort McMurray Bar. Both articled at the same prominent firm where Mr. Yoo later became a partner. Together, they combine deep local knowledge, shared history, and fresh energy to deliver exceptional legal service to their clients.
